Tour de France in Green Hammerton.

Green Hammerton Welcomes the Tour de France 2014. The Grand Depart 5th & 6th July 2014!

The 101st edition of the Tour de France will start in Yorkshire with the second stage (which starts in York) passing right past the village of Green Hammerton on the A59. The village junction with the A59 will make an excellent viewing point as the peloton sweeps up the road from Kirk Hammerton. The A59 will be closed in the Green Hammerton area from around 6am on the day and parking restrictions in the village will apply. There will be dedicated Car Parking within the village which will be clearly signed.

TDF Road Closure Information – Stages 1 & 2

The days show starts with the Advertising Parade. Approximately 150 to 200 vehicles will set off about 2 hours before the days stage starts (approx 9am?). Images from previous parades are below. The peloton should be leaving York at around 11am and should reach Green Hammerton around 11.30am.


Places to Stay

Camping may be available locally but it has yet to be confirmed. As soon as there is any news this page will be updated.

Local residents may also be letting out rooms etc. A list of local private accommodation will be compiled and published here when available.


Parking will be available in designated areas that will be clearly signposted on then day. Map to follow.
