The Year 4 pupils at Green Hammerton Primary have been taking part in the Archbishop Of York’s Young Leaders Award.  The main focus of this is to think about being ‘The change they want to see’ which includes doing charity work for the local and wider community.  They have been learning about the importance of Foodbanks to many families, particularly over the summer when children are no longer receiving a hot dinner at school, and have decided to organise a collection of donated food to pass on to the Foodbank in Harrogate.  Supplies in Foodbanks tend to run low over the summer holidays due to the greater demand on them from families in need.  If you would like to contribute to their collection please drop any food items into school or the collection box in the post office by Friday 19th July.  The items should be non-perishable eg

Tinned meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, soup

Pasta sauce

Dried pasta and rice

Boxes of cereal

Long life fruit juice and milk

Many thanks

Mrs Holloway and the Young Leaders

PS For anyone wanting to donate to the foodbank on a regular basis – there is a box at the back of church, into which donations can be put.
