In the GHPC document that listed “pros & cons” about the new proposed developments it was stated that Johnsons would relocate and jobs would be lost. Whilst they would relocate they have stated that they would still be local and no jobs would be lost. The PC apology that has been sent to Johnsons is below.

Dear Mr Richardson,

Thank you for your telephone message which I heard yesterday evening.

My sincere apologies for our misunderstanding about Johnson’s future plans. We knew that the business would have to relocate a substantial part of its operations if Green Hammerton was chosen for the new settlement.  We did not know where the relocation would be and somehow the question was not asked.

I have written to Harrogate Borough Council with our apology and put this letter on the consultation page. I will call on Monday and see if I can get the offending sentence removed or the whole letter replaced by one without that sentence.

Green Hammerton Parish Council apologises to the management, staff and their families for any distress that may have been caused.

Yours sincerely

Paul Whelan,

Clerk to the Green Hammerton Parish Council
