The Friends of Green Hammerton School (FOGHS) are a fundraising organisation consisting of the parents, teachers and other members of the wider community that are involved with the school (such as childminders, school volunteers and governors).  We have a committee that organise social and fundraising events for pupils, families and friends and also support the school in whatever capacity we can e.g. helping to welcome new and prospective parents.

Meetings are usually held once every half term, in an evening, with the AGM being held each September.  All meetings are open to everybody but parents are particularly encouraged to attend the AGM, where they can find out more about the past year’s successes and the plans for the upcoming year.  That is also the time when the committee are elected and the roles of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary are filled.

What is discussed?

The meetings mainly involve the discussion of recent events and the planning of upcoming projects.  Decisions are also made about how the funds raised should be spent, in collaboration with the school.

We have many events that are popular and that we run each year.  Some of these are aimed at the children such as the school discos held once a term and some are family events like the Christmas Fair and Summer Leavers’ Event. We also sell secondhand uniform and run other fundraisers such as bake sales and sponsored events.

Over the years FOGHS have helped fund many projects including, the staging for the school productions, new smart boards and Chromebooks plus new reading books for KS1 and KS2.

Anyone wishing to join FOGHS or help in any way should email friendsofgreenhammertonschool@gmail.com or ring the school office on 01423 330314.
